Lots of hound owners take wondeful care od their dogs. However it not uncommon for the ears just like their teeth to be forgotten about.
What should I be checking?
Your dogs ears should be relatively clean. Ear wax is an imporant bug deterant but to much can cause probelms. Other things to watch out for are ticks and ear mights as well as any redness.
How do I clean them?
Your dog will find having their ears cleaned miledly uncomforatble but should not be painful in anyway.
Use a seperate piece of cotton wool for each ear. Moisen with TCP or alovera spray. then gently wipe around the ear and inside it (do not go beyond what you can easily see in the ear).
Any wax should wipe away easily as demonstrated by 4 year old Beth.
If there are any signs of ticks or mights use the appropriate ear drops to treat them.
